The Green Bay Packers will be hosting the 2025 NFL Draft. They will have the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft this year.
Green Bay finished with an 11-6 record during the regular season before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round in the NFL. The Green Bay Packers will have several offseason needs this year. Some of the needs for this football team are a cornerback, a defensive lineman, and a wide receiver.
Pro Football Network Has the Green Bay Packers Selecting Cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. From East Carolina In the Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
On Sunday, Pro Football Network created a seven-round mock draft for the 2025 NFL Draft. A lot still has to be simulated between now and April. With the 23rd overall pick in the latest mock draft, the Green Bay Packers are selecting cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. from the East Carolina Pirates.
There is no doubt that the Packers need a cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft, but this selection could be a major risk for the Green Bay Packers. The Pro Football Network said:
“Revel could be the steal of the class. Like Quinyon Mitchell a season ago, Revel was poised to go through the college all-star circuit and display his skills against the best of the best. A good showing in Mobile or Frisco could have cemented top-10 pick status for the 6-foot-2 cornerback, but a season-ending injury killed those dreams.
Still, nobody in the class can effortlessly hinge and carry vertically the way Revel can, and the playmaking cornerback has a Trevon Diggs-like knack for playing out of phase to bait quarterbacks into silly mistakes.”
Revel played in three games this season for the East Carolina Pirates. He recorded eight tackles, two interceptions, one touchdown, and two pass deflections. Had Shavon Revel Jr. stayed healthy all season long, he would have had a big season.
Can’t Risk Injury Prone Players
Revel Jr. might have major upside as a number one cornerback, but the Green Bay Packers can not take a chance on a player who was injured during the season. Green Bay could very well be moving off of Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes this offseason.
Alexander and Stokes have been riddled with injuries over the last few seasons. The Packers need to be healthy at the cornerback position. Shavon Revel Jr. is a talented cornerback for the Green Bay Packers to draft, but it would be a risk to draft him.
