Who would have thought that the Green Bay Packers would head into Dallas and blow out the Cowboys in the NFL Wild Card round? No one gave the Packers much of a chance, except the team themselves.
Jordan Love and company paid no mind to all of the critics that surrounded them. Instead, they worked hard on the game plan all week and came out to execute that game plan perfectly. That resulted in a dominant 48-32 win that was more dominant than the final score indicates.
Most of the Cowboys’ offensive production came in garbage time with the game already decided.
One of the most surprising parts of the game was how good the defense played. Once again, Joe Barry dialed up a perfect game for the third week in a row.
Green Bay Packers’ Secret Defensive Weapon Strikes Again vs. Cowboys
There has been one secret weapon that the Packers have had all season long. He has gone relatively unheralded but has been a huge part of the game plan when Green Bay has had strong defensive performances.
That secret weapon is known as defensive back Keisean Nixon.
On Sunday against the Cowboys, Nixon came through with another strong performance. He racked up eleven tackles to go along with a sack and two defended passes. Those numbers show how big of an impact he had on the game.
Originally, Nixon was simply a special teams genius for the Packers. This season, he has been asked to take on a large role for the defense. He has completely risen to the occasion for the Green Bay Packers and has become an integral piece.
Looking ahead to the Divisional Round, the Packers have an even tougher task ahead of them. The San Francisco 49ers are much better than the Cowboys. The Green Bay Packers will need another massive performance from their defense in order to compete for a chance to move on to the NFC Championship Game.
