It’s roster cut time in the NFL. Metaphorically speaking, it’s about to be a bloodbath across the league, as the Green Bay Packers and the other 31 teams decide which players will make the final 53-man rosters. The deadline to reduce the roster for each team down to that number is set at 1 pm PST on Tuesday.
Sean Clifford speaks up about Michael Pratt
Among Packers players on the edge at the moment is quarterback Sean Clifford, though, he appears to have accepted that his fate with the team is not in his hands. And even with the anxiety that this time of the year entails for players like him, Clifford still spoke highly of his chief competitor for the QB2 job in Green Bay, Michael Pratt.
Via Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com:
Acknowledging the decision is out of his control, Clifford told reporters he planned to start breaking down tape of Green Bay’s Week 1 opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles, and possibly even studying the Packers’ Week 2 adversary, the Indianapolis Colts.
“It’s not my decision to have,” Clifford said. “I think the world of Mike. I think that he’s a great player. I think that I’m also a great player, so it’s not my decision to have here. I think they should keep all of us.”
Sean Clifford vs. Michael Pratt battle has no clear winner
Neither Clifford nor Pratt seem to make a clear separation from each other after the training camp and three NFL preseason games. It is also worth mentioning that the Packers have also brought in a new quarterback when they traded for Tennessee Titans signal-caller Malik Willis.
Clifford was selected by the Packers in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft and appeared in just two games last season.
