By today’s end, all 32 NFL teams will know when they are playing whom in 2025. With their Week 1 matchup already leaked, Green Bay Packers fans got some good news. For the first time in 7 years, the Packers will open the season at Lambeau, facing NFC North rival Detroit on Sunday, September 7. They will also have an early shot to extend their impressive win streak in home openers. Given Green Bay’s recent slate of Week 1 games, it would be hard to blame fans for being a bit miffed they had to wait this long to see their team kick off the season in-state.
Green Bay Packers To Begin Season Over 5K Miles North of 2024 Week 1 Venue
Last season, Green Bay kicked off play in a soccer stadium in Brazil. After falling to the Eagles 34-29, the Packers returned home in to beat the Colts, their 12th consecutive home opener victory.
Opening 2025 at Lambeau, over 5,000 miles north of Sau Paulo, will be a welcome change of scenery. On September 7, 2025, the Packers can extend their streak to 13.

In addition to the Brazil game, Week 1 environments have not been kind to Green Bay. In 2023 and 2022, they played division foes Chicago and Minnesota. In 2021, the Packers were thrashed 38-3 in New Orleans, ranked by players as one of the toughest stadiums to visit. In each of the two years prior, they again traveled to Soldier Field. Hosting the Bears in 2018 marks their last home opener to begin the season.
Of course, the Lions are no easy opponent. Playing Detroit at home is a more challenging task than a road game in Chicago. Still, hosting a marquee division game in an atmosphere of Week 1 hype is an opportunity few teams would pass up.

Fans Now Have 3 Dates Accounted for on Upcoming Schedule
Aside from the game against the Lions, the Packers will host the Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 10. On Saturday, December 20, they will play the Bears in Chicago.
They also got some relieving news regarding overseas games: they won’t play one in 2025.
Their remaining 14 matchups will be revealed sometime after 7 PM CT, when the NFL officially releases the schedule. While dates and times remain unassigned, the Packers’ opponents were revealed several months ago. From the looks of it, they will face a challenging 2025 slate:
At home – Vikings (14-3), Lions (15-2), Eagles (14-3), Bears (5-12), Commanders (12-5), Panthers (5-12), Ravens (12-5), Bengals (9-8)
On the road – Vikings (14-3), Lions (15-2), Cowboys (7-10), Bears (5-12), Giants (3-14), Cardinals (8-9), Steelers (10-7), Browns (3-14), Broncos (10-7)

Last season, the Packers went just 1-5 against division rivals. In Week 1, they will have an immediate chance to avenge being swept by the Lions in 2024.
Jordan Love vs. Jared Goff, Matt LaFleur vs. Dan Campbell. Lambeau Field. What could be better? The stage is set for what should be a show well worth the watch.
