The Green Bay Packers will have some decisions to make at the running back position after the 2023 season. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillion are on possibly the last year in Green Bay. So what will the Packers do?
Tough Decision
All Packer fans want to keep the “one-two punch” the Packers currently have. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillion have proved they are the best running back duo in the league for the last two-three years. Jones took a five-million-dollar pay cut earlier in the offseason to remain with the Packers for the 2023 season. Jones will also enter his age 29 season and that is typically when running backs start to regress. Dillion is in the last year of his rookie contract. With the Packers being tight on salary cap space year after year, keeping both players on the roster will be tough after 2023.
What Will The Packers Do?
One thing the Packers could do is draft a running back in the upcoming 2023 draft reasonably early. With a deep class at running back, including Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Devon Achane and Zach Charbonnet, the Packers would have a lot to think about. With the running back position looking to be a concern after 2023, the Packers could draft one of these guys to sit behind Jones and Dillion and learn.
The Green Bay Packers and fans would love to see Jones and Dillion together for a long time. Unfortunately, you could see the Packers returning one and letting the other walk. But now, see what the duo can do in a new chapter in Green Bay for the 2023 season.
