The Green Bay Packers and wide receiver Romeo Doubs will be getting ready to work in Saturday’s preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Matt LaFleur said to the media that the starters will be getting reps and will see how many series the starters will play before putting the backups in.
A lot will be decided in Saturday’s preseason finale for Green Bay. One of the things that is already sealed is that Doubs is the number two receiver for the Packers this season. He will be getting more reps with the first team unit in another preseason contest before the games count. Christian Watson will be the number-one wide receiver on this roster heading into the regular season.
Romeo Doubs and Jordan Love have developed chemistry with each other throughout the offseason and training camp. This preseason, he has four catches for 73 yards receiving and a touchdown. Doubs is averaging 18.3 yards per catch in the preseason.
It would be great to see them develop more chemistry against Seattle. This is why they are getting reps in the preseason in-game live-action.
Romeo Doubs Needs the Reps for the Green Bay Packers
Because Doubs is entering his second season in the NFL and has not proven himself yet in this league, it is important to play as much as possible. Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said to the media,
“Everybody will play.”
He also mentioned:
“As for as how many snaps, it could be case by case. It’s going to be more of a gut feeling. I would say, on my part where we’re at.”
Matt LaFleur is taking a different approach this preseason than the ones he has done in the past. His reasoning was:
“I think it’s a byproduct of having some younger players at certain poisitions and also just going through and not performing the way you’d like to in Week 1 in certain instances,” LaFleur said. “I think you can always learn, grow, and you try to get a feel for where you’re at as a football team and what your team needs.”
What Matt LaFleur is probably looking for on Saturday against the Seattle Seahawks is one flawless drive from the starting offense that leads to a touchdown. This would mean Jordan Love gets Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs involved and then the Green Bay Packers are ready to go for Week 1 against the Chicago Bears.
