The Green Bay Packers improved to 8-3 on the season with their 38-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon. By winning their Week 12 matchup, the Packers kept pace with the Detroit Lions (10-1) and Minnesota Vikings (9-2) who also won their games this weekend. The loss dropped San Francisco to 5-6 and into third place in the NFC West.
Green Bay’s victory, though, did not come without its losses as well. Wide receiver Romeo Doubs was removed from the game after suffering a concussion. Despite leaving the contest early, the third-year pass catcher led the Packers with three receptions and 54 receiving yards.
Unfortunately, his injury could not have come at a worse time.
The Green Bay Packers Are Likely Not Going to Have Romeo Doubs on Thanksgiving vs the Miami Dolphins
As if a concussion were not bad enough, the Packers have a quick turnaround this week as they play the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving. Their Week 13 matchup will be played Thursday night.
While it is possible for Doubs to clear concussion protocol after just a few days, that is not always the case. Furthermore, Green Bay’s rather conservative medical team will be even more cautious with a head injury (as they should be).
Speaking to the media on Monday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said the situation was “unfortunate” and that it would be a “big loss” if Doubs is unable to play on Thursday:
Matt LaFleur calls it “unfortunate” that Romeo Doubs had to leave the game with a concussion because he thought Doubs was having a really great night. There’s a possibility he won’t be out there Thursday against the Dolphins. “If we don’t have him, that’s a big loss,” he says.

If the 2022 fourth-round pick is unable to play, it will be the second game that he misses this year. Fans may recall that he was suspended by the Packers for their Week Five game in Los Angeles for conduct detrimental to the team.
Romeo Doubs Has Been One of the Best Playmakers for the Green Bay Packers
No pass catcher on the Packers roster has been targeted in the passing game more than Doubs has this season (53). He is second on the team in receptions (34) and receiving yards (483).
While he only has two touchdown catches this year, he is clearly one of Jordan Love’s favorite targets.
If Doubs misses the game against the Dolphins on Thanksgiving, Green Bay will still have Jayden Reed and Christian Watson as their top two wide receivers. But Dontayvion Wicks has been disappointing this year, which makes Doubs’ possible absence worrisome.
