Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs wants to prove himself as the number one wide receiver option for quarterback Jordan Love entering the 2024 season. Doubs continued to impress during training camp on Tuesday and it appears as if he is on track for another solid season for Green Bay.

A season ago, Christian Watson appeared to be the number one wide receiver on the roster, but a lot changed with him. Watson was injured for half of the season and some of the fanbase did not like the way he was performing when he was on the field.

Romeo Doubs was tied for the team lead in touchdowns last season with 8. Jayden Reed also recorded that number. Doubs also had 59 catches and 674 yards receiving and also had 11.4 yards per reception. He was also targeted 96 times.

There is nothing like a good competition between top cornerback Jaire Alexander and top wide receiver Romeo Doubs. Alexander will be going up against the top wide receivers on the opposing teams when the games count in Week 1. Doubs said to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
“Some days, coaches may match us up, and then there’s other days where I want smoke from Ja, Ja wants smoke from me. … He knows better than I do. It’s just work. I get to go against him every day, so that’s a blessing.”
It is a good thing that iron wants to sharpen iron on this football team. Alexander is one of the top cornerbacks in the league when healthy. Doubs may potentially break out this season for 1,000 yards. Jaire Alexander also said about facing Doubs in practice:
“I always want to go against Doubs. The dude’s freaking really good. He come in his rookie year not catching a single pass on me. Now we’re going up for 50-50 balls. Dude is really good. … I think his route running is very (good). He’s a pro. He goes about it the right way. He comes in, I mean, he catches 100 balls. He catches more after practice. You can see he’s a real pro. You can see his attention to detail is very on point.”
Romeo Doubs was a fourth-round pick out of Nevada in 2022. He has worked his way up the depth chart every year for the Green Bay Packers. Even though it may not feel like Green Bay has a true number-one wide receiver right now, it appears as if Doubs is knocking on the door to be one this season.
