The Green Bay Packers haven’t shied away from making splash trades. For three straight off-seasons the Packers have moved on players who had a profound impact on their team. Davante Adams (2022), Aaron Rodgers (2023), Aaron Jones (2024), and David Bakhtiari (2024).
However, one of these players is rumored to be on the move once again.
Two Former Green Bay Packers Stars Named In Massive Three-Team Trade
According to Freddie Boston of FanSided:
The Green Bay Packers were often accused of not giving Aaron Rodgers enough help. Sometimes, it was fair, but other times, it was overblown.
Last season, the New York Jets deserved similar criticism for not giving Rodgers adequate protection or a deep enough receiving corps outside of Garrett Wilson.
They have taken steps to change that this offseason. New York fixed its offensive line by bringing in veteran tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses, along with first-round pick Olu Fashanu. They also added running back Braelon Allen and wide receivers Mike Williams and Malachi Corley.
Bleacher Report proposes three-team trade that reunites Packers teammates
Adams wants to win a Super Bowl. He left Green Bay to play with college quarterback Derek Carr, but that only lasted one season. With the Las Vegas Raiders not expected to compete this year, would a blockbuster move to the Jets make sense?
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox believes so. He proposed several three-team trades that “would turn the NFL upside down.” This one certainly fits that description. Here is what Knox came up with:
- Browns receive: Jets’ third-round pick and T Tyron Smith
- Jets receive: WR Davante Adams
- Raiders receive: Jets’ first-round pick, WR Amari Cooper
I mean, wow. That would be some deal.
New York would give up 2025 picks in the first and third rounds and tackle Tyron Smith, who they signed this offseason, to land Adams. Is it worth it?
It’s certainly the type of all-in move that could help Rodgers win another title, although it would create a question at left tackle. Is first-round pick Olu Fashanu ready to start? If not, perhaps another Packers reunion with David Bakhtiari could make sense. That truly would be getting the band back together.
Three team trades rarely happen in the NFL, however, one that would get Adams reunited with Rodgers seems even less likely. The Raiders have made it clear they have no desire to move Adams.
That Jets already invested in weapons this off-season to surround Rodgers with.
It will be interesting to see how the Jets’ offense looks in 2024. Could a Las Vegas midseason collapse be enough for them to move on from Adams? Will the Jets be a contender at the midseason mark?
