For a few days, there were rumblings that the Green Bay Packers could be looking for a new coordinator. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich interviewed for the Chicago Bears head coaching position, and defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley interviewed for the same title with the New York Jets.

However, the Bears have decided to hire Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. Despite not formally interviewing him in person, Chicago believes they have their man despite speaking with Stenavich and former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

This development, of course, means that Stenavich will remain in Green Bay. It also seems likely, too, that Hafley will not get the Jets head coaching position.

One current member of Matt LaFleur‘s staff, though, is moving onto the second round of interviews for a different NFL team.

Green Bay Packers Assistant Robert Saleh Gets a 2nd Interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars

East Rutherford, NJ — September 29 — Jets head coach Robert Saleh in the first half as the Denver Broncos edged the New York Jets 10-9 at MetLife Stadium.

After being fired by the Jets following a 2-3 start to the 2024 NFL season, Robert Saleh was hired by the Packers as an offensive consultant, despite the fact that he is a defensive-minded coach. The thought was that Saleh could give the offense a better idea of what opposing defenses would throw at them.

Now that the season is over, Saleh is a hot name as teams search for defensive coordinators. Many expect that he will eventually land with the San Francisco 49ers, with whom he served as DC before becoming New York’s head coach.

However, the Jacksonville Jaguars, who fired former Packers back up quarterback Doug Pederson, are expressing interest in him as their next head coach. Today, reports came out that he is getting a second interview with the team:

Saleh being hired by Jacksonville would be the best-case scenario for both him and the Packers. He is such a talented defensive coach that there is no way Green Bay would be able to retain him as an assistant. Being the head coach of the Jaguars would obviously be ideal for him, and it would keep him from joining one of the Packers’ biggest rivals in the NFC.
