The Green Bay Packers are not the only NFC North team that may be bidding adieu to a long-time fan favorite Pro Bowl player. Amidst the Aaron Rodgers to New York Jets rumors, the Minnesota Vikings are looking at cutting some of their own players. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted today that there is a high possibility that Minnesota will release two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Adam Thielen.
There’s a real possibility that the Vikings and Adam Thielen will part ways in the coming days, allowing the two-time Pro-Bowl WR to become a free agent, per sources. The two sides will talk in coming days, but his time in Minnesota could be coming to an end.

Thielen has played for the Vikings his whole career. Minnesota signed him after the 2013 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. He spent the entire 2013 on their practice squad before making the roster in 2014.
Adam Thielen’s NFL Career
Since making the Vikings’ team in 2014, Thielen has career totals of 534 receptions, 6,682 receiving yards, and 54 touchdowns. He has made the Pro Bowl twice, in 2017 and 2018. In 2017, he had 91 receptions for 1,276 yards and four touchdowns. The next season, he was even better, posting 113 receptions for 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns.
Thielen holds several NFL records, notably records having to do with consecutive 100+ yard games. He shares the NFL record for the most consecutive games with 100+ yards with Calvin Johnson (eight). Those eight games all came at the beginning of the 2018 season, which set the record for the most consecutive 100+yard games to begin a season.
Would the Green Bay Packers Be Able to Sign Adam Thielen?
Of course, it is fun to think about Thielen crossing the border to take vengeance on his former team as a member of the Packers. Green Bay will certainly have the cap space to sign him thanks to all of the restructures they have done this offseason.
However, there is a rumor that, if cut, Thielen will want to go to a contending team with a high-profile quarterback:

Despite the Packers having faith in Jordan Love, he is unproven and the Packers are not expected to be contenders last season. That may take them out of the running for the two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver.
