Green Bay Packers rival, the Chicago Bears, could potentially be making massive moves within the next few weeks, and one of the names that could be potentially moved is wide receiver Darnell Mooney. NFLanalysis.net writer Matthew Schmidt proposed an idea about trading Mooney from the Green Bay Packers rival, the Chicago Bears to the Indianapolis Colts.
In the year 2021, he caught 81 passes for 1,055 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Mooney averaged 13.0 yards per catch that season. In 2022, he had a down season with 40 receptions for 493 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Darnell Mooney averaged 12.3 yards per catch last season. He played in 12 games before suffering an ankle injury.
In 2023, he caught eight passes for 104 yards receiving and one touchdown for the Green Bay Packers rival. He has averaged 13.0 yards per reception. Darnell Mooney will become a free agent at the end of the season, and he is just 25 years old.
It appears as if the Green Bay Packers’ rival wide receiver may not be a part of the long-term plans for the Chicago Bears franchise. One of the things that the Colts could send in a trade for Mooney is a potential third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Green Bay Packers Rival, the Chicago Bears, Could Have a Potential Fire Sale Soon and Darnell Mooney Would Be a Good Get for the Indianapolis Colts
The Chicago Bears are off to an 0-4 start so far to the 2023 season. The Indianapolis Colts are off to a 2-2 start this season, and they could very well be in the playoff hunt in the AFC South the rest of the way. Indianapolis doesn’t have a strong, wide receiver room. The Colts’ leading receivers so far this season are Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie Josh Downs.
Pittman Jr. has caught 26 passes for 245 yards receiving and one touchdown. He is averaging 9.4 yards per reception. Downs has caught 17 passes for 158 yards receiving and zero touchdowns. He is averaging 9.3 yards per catch.
Darnell Mooney would also be another good addition to the wide receiver room for Indianapolis. Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson needs some more good receivers around him in order to grow as a quarterback. Gardner Minshew II is the current backup quarterback on this football team. The Green Bay Packers rival trading Darnell Mooney to the Colts would be a very good move for both parties.
