According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Green Bay Packers rivals, the Minnesota Vikings could be one of the teams interested in trading up in the 2024 NFL Draft. Minnesota has the 11th overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With Kirk Cousins becoming a free agent, it is very possible they won’t re-sign the quarterback. Nick Mullens, Josh Dobbs, and Jaren Hall were some of the other quarterbacks that saw snaps this season for the Vikings. They all appear not to be the answer for Minnesota in the long haul.
Fowler said about the possibility of the Vikings trading up in the 2024 NFL Draft:
“They did a lot of quarterback homework last offseason and could eventually target one high in the draft with free agent Kirk Cousins’ future in Minnesota uncertain. But moving from No. 11 into the top three would cost GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah a ton of draft capital.“
The Vikings must have their eye on someone that they want to make a massive move for a quarterback. It would be interesting to see where it would be at. The Chicago Bears own the top selection, the Washington Commanders own the second selection, and the New England Patriots own the third selection.
With the Green Bay Packers Having Quarterback Jordan Love For the Next Decade, the Minnesota Vikings Need to Do the Same
Green Bay has their quarterback for the next decade with Jordan Love. Minnesota needs to find its quarterback for the next decade. Caleb Williams from USC, Drake Maye from North Carolina, and Jayden Daniels from LSU are the hot quarterback names in the 2024 NFL Draft, and it’s obvious that the Vikings want one of those three players.
Minnesota trying to move up shows they are desperate for their next signal caller. Love having a breakout season for Green Bay could be one of the reasons why the Vikings need to do this. They will not be able to compete within the division if they don’t have a quarterback.
It is very possible that three quarterbacks get drafted in the top three. The move that makes the most sense is if the Minnesota Vikings trade up from the 11th selection to the third selection. If that doesn’t work out for them, well they may have to settle on J.J. McCarthy from Michigan 11th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
