The Green Bay Packers got some good news on the coaching front over the last few days. Two of head coach Matt LaFleur‘s top assistants, offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich and defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, had interviewed for head coaching jobs with other teams. Stenavich with the Chicago Bears and Hafley with the New York Jets.
Fortunately for Green Bay, the Bears and Jets have instead hired away Detroit Lions coaches, with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson going to Chicago and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn heading to New York.
Now, both Johnson and Glenn need to fill out their staffs, and one of them is looking at a former Packers coach and Wisconsin Badgers star.
The Chicago Bears Want to Interview former Green Bay Packers Coach and Wisconsin Badgers Star Aubrey Pleasant
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Johnson and the Bears want to interview current Los Angeles Rams assistant head coach and passing game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant for their defensive coordinator opening:
The #Bears have requested #Rams assistant head coach & passing game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant to interview for their vacant DC job under Ben Johnson, source said. A key reason Chris Shula’s defense impressed so much late in the season.

Green Bay just interviewed former Bears defensive coordinator Eric Washington for their vacant defensive line coach job.
As some fans may recall, Pleasant recently was an offensive consultant on LaFleur’s staff in Green Bay. After Lions head coach Dan Campbell fired him as defensive backs coach midseason in 2022, the Packers head coach brought him in as an offensive consultant.
Following the 2022 season, many fans wanted Pleasant to replace Joe Barry as defensive coordinator. However, he was hired back to the Rams with whom he had been a defensive backs coach from 2017-2020. Pleasant has also coached for the Washington Commanders and Cleveland Browns.
It was during his time in Washington that Pleasant met and befriended LaFleur, who was the quarterbacks coach at the time. Sean McVay, the current head coach of the Rams, was also on staff as the tight ends coach.
Prior to his coaching career, he was a defensive back for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2005-2008. Instead of pursuing a playing career, Pleasant became a defensive graduate assistant at Michigan to start his coaching career in 2011. While there, he also earned a Masters degree in education.
