The Green Bay Packers are one of the most intriguing teams to watch for going into the 2023 NFL season. For the first time in 15 years Aaron Rodgers won’t be under center come week one. In fact, it will be the first time in 31 years that someone named Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre won’t be under center come week one of the regular season. The Jordan Love era is in full swing. Players and fans are excited to see what this era will bring. Mid-way through the 2023 season, the Green Bay Packers could reclaim one of the greatest wide receivers to ever don their uniform.
The Green Bay Packers Reclaim Davante Adams Before 2023 Trade Deadline (Trade Proposal)
Reports are surfacing that Davante Adams’ availability will be monitored by teams this upcoming season. If the Las Vegas Raiders’ season is a disappointment halfway through the season, and the Green Bay Packers are making a playoff push, this trade idea is one that has to be considered. ESPN posed a major question for Davante Adams, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the rest of the NFL going into the 2023 season:
Adams forced his way out of Green Bay last offseason so he could go to the Raiders and play with his college buddy, Derek Carr. But the Raiders benched Carr late in the 2022 season and released him in February. Adams has spoken publicly about his disappointment over losing Carr, and even about his skepticism regarding the acquisition of Jimmy Garoppolo and the plan that coach Josh McDaniels is putting in place.
It seems pretty clear that Adams, in spite of his reservations, is willing to give McDaniels and Garoppolo a shot. He proved last year that he didn’t need Rodgers to be a top wide receiver, and he surely believes he can perform at the same level with Garoppolo. But things could get ugly in a hurry for the Raiders, who have seen a major overhaul since McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler got there 17 months ago but don’t appear to be any better. In fact, some might say they appear to be worse than the team that finished the 2021 season on a playoff run under interim coach Rich Bisaccia with Carr as its emotional leader.
What Would It Take To Get Davante Adams Back To The Green Bay Packers?
It would take a significant collapse in order for the Raiders to trade away Davante Adams, and that might not even be enough. The Las Vegas Raiders are just one off-season removed from trading away a first and second round draft pick for the All-Pro wide receiver. At 30 years old, the Raiders must feel they can still get 2-3 more premium years out of Davante Adams (at least).
Last year the Raiders’ quarterback situation was far from stable and Adams had a stellar season. He ended with 100 receptions, 1,516 yards, 14 touchdowns, 65 1st downs, 15.2 yards per reception, his third consecutive First Team All-Pro selection, and his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl selection. However, if the Raiders feel as though a rebuild is necessary and a Davante Adams trade is something they are open to, this is our trade proposal to get him back to Green Bay:
Las Vegas Raiders Receive:
- 2024 Conditional Second Round Draft Pick That Becomes A First If Aaron Rodgers Plays 65% Of His Snaps In 2023
- 2024 Third Round Draft Pick
- 2024 Sixth Round Draft Pick
Green Bay Packers Receive:
- WR Davante Adams
One year removed from the Raiders paying a first and second round draft pick for Davante Adams, they get back a (likely) first round draft pick, a third, and a sixth. For a team that may be considering a rebuild, that’s not bad business. For the Green Bay Packers, they use one of their assets they received in the massive Aaron Rodgers trade to get back the best wide receiver in football for Jordan Love.
