The Green Bay Packers have gotten off to a fantastic start in the 2023 NFL Draft. After taking edge rusher Lukas Van Ness in the first round, Brian Gutekunst got quarterback Jordan Love three new pass catchers on Day Two: tight ends Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft and wide receiver Jayden Reed. With three needs met, the Packers still have a variety of positions that they need to address. One of these is the safety position, and since they have not taken one yet, one fan asked Rasul Douglas if he was going to play the position this year. Douglas responded hinting at the return of one Green Bay’s unrestricted free agents.
Green Bay Packers Cornerback Rasul Douglas Says Adrian Amos Is “Probably” Coming Back

The Packers currently have Darnell Savage and Rudy Ford as their safeties. Tariq Carpenter recently announced that he will be moving to linebacker from the safety position, which further weakened the team’s depth there. It makes some sense, therefore, that Green Bay might try to bring Adrian Amos back on a veteran minimum contract. This is an idea that Douglas certainly thinks is probably going to happen:
@_SmashAmos31 probably coming back or something . He not giving us any info 👀👀👀 https://t.co/RQ3hHA4M9z

As Douglas notes, he has no inside information as Amos is not telling his former (current?) teammates anything. However, the Packers are just getting younger and will need as many veteran leaders as possible. Amos was a team captain and a strong voice in the locker room. While his production dipped in 2022, perhaps he still has more to give, especially as a mentor to the young players. It’s not like Green Bay can really afford any other free agents right now.
