There are few players who have been as beloved and as popular among Green Bay Packers fans as former wide receiver Randall Cobb. The former Pro Bowl wide receiver had a stellar career in two stints with the Packers, a career that saw him ascend to rarified company among Packers’ all-time wide receivers.
Currently, the two-time former Packers slot receiver is a free agent, having spent last year with Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. While 2023 offseason hype predicted he would play a major role in the Jets’ offense, he ended up having the worst season of his otherwise illustrious career.
Without Rodgers throwing him the ball, Cobb had just five receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown. As one might expect, the Jets decided not to re-sign him this offseason.
Green Bay Packers Legend Randall Cobb Opens Up About Retirement

Perhaps not surprisingly, no teams have reached out to Cobb about joining their roster or participating in training camp. That does not mean he is giving up on playing in the NFL again, though.
In a recent podcast appearance on the show Bussin’ with the Boys, Cobb said:
“I haven’t made any kind of decision, [but] someone’s got to want you, too.
“Everybody ages out of this league at some point. A matter of when, how. I’m kind of in that position now, if I want to go out on my own terms, I can. And I’ll be happy.”
The former Pro Bowler said that he would not rule out returning to the NFL midseason if a team needed him. However, that team would have to have an established quarterback and be in a situation that he is comfortable with.
Where Does Randall Cobb Rank Among All-Time Green Bay Packers Wide Receivers?

In 13 NFL seasons, Cobb recorded 630 receptions for 7,624 yards and 54 touchdowns. He played for the Packers, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Jets.
His best season was undoubtedly the 2014 NFL season, a year that most fans agree should have been a year that the Packers won the Super Bowl (instead of losing to the Seattle Seahawks in the postseason). That year, Cobb had 91 receptions for 1,287 and 12 touchdowns. He was also named to his only career Pro Bowl.
In 10 seasons with the Packers, Cobb had 532 receptions for 6,316 yards and 47 touchdowns. Among all-time Packers players, Cobb ranks fifth in receptions, 11th in receiving yards, and 11th in touchdown receptions.
