Over the course of the past few days, the team names of the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers have been mentioned in the same sentence quite a bit. Of course, this was to be expected with former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy being named to the same role with the Steelers, his hometown team.
Following his official hire and opening press conference with Pittsburgh, numerous former Green Bay players and coaches have been named to his coaching staff. And, of course, speculation that former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could return for a final NFL season has grown.
As it turns out, Rodgers is just one of three former Green Bay quarterbacks that could spend the 2026 NFL season with Pittsburgh.

In addition to Rodgers, it was recently reported that McCarthy and the Steelers are interviewing Scott Tolzien for their offensive coordinator position. Tolzien, who was a Wisconsin Badgers quarterback, played for McCarthy in Green Bay from 2013-2015.
He also was McCarthy’s quarterbacks coach during his tenure as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
Additionally, the former Packers coach has announced that Tom Arth will be retained as Pittsburgh’s quarterback coach. Arth was with Green Bay in 2006, but never made the active roster.
The former head coach at Akron, Art got his start as an NFL coach in 2022 as a pass game specialist with the Los Angeles Chargers. He became the Steelers quarterbacks coach in 2024.
In addition to these three quarterbacks, Rodgers, Tolzien, and Arth, McCarthy has already hired James Campen and Jahri Evans to coach his offensive line. Both were former players in Green Bay, and Campen was a long-time coach for the organization.
Patrick Graham, who was on McCarthy’s staff with the Packers, has also been hired as the Steelers defensive coordinator.
