The Green Bay Packers will likely move on from Aaron Rodgers during the 2023 off-season. The New York Jets have been the favorite to land Aaron Rodgers for the entire off-season. However, it has been over one month since Aaron Rodgers declared he intends to play for the New York Jets in 2023, and seemingly no progress toward that trade actually happening. Multiple other teams have reportedly entered the mix for the four-time MVP quarterback. Now you can add one more team to that list.
The Tenneesee Titans Have Officially Reached Out To The Green Bay Packers About Aaron Rodgers
According to Kenneth Teape of NFL Analysis Network:
With the 2023 NFL Draft only 10 days away, things could start heating up again when it comes to trade negotiations. While it is seemingly a one-horse race, some rumors have popped up that other teams could start getting involved.
The first team mentioned was the San Francisco 49ers. When trade rumors centered around Aaron Rodgers began a few years ago, they were one of the teams mentioned as a logical landing spot. Most recently, it was reported they were preparing to make a run at him should negotiations with the Jets fall through.
You can now add another team to that list. According to a former NFL executive that spoke to NFL Analysis Network, the Tennessee Titans have reached out to the Packers about Aaron Rodgers. While the executive does caution that a deal with the Jets is most likely, the Titans are a team to watch should those talks actually fall through.
“While the likely outcome for (Aaron) Rodgers is still the Jets, the Titans have reached out recently. If things fall apart with New York, Tennessee would have a shot at acquiring him.”
The Titans would be a shocking landing spot for Aaron Rodgers. They look like a franchise ready to embark on a rebuild, not one looking to contend in 2023. Multiple veterans were released earlier in the offseason with trade rumors persisting around running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
If Tennessee was going to make a run at Aaron Rodgers, Henry would likely be retained as the centerpiece of the offense around him. But, beyond him, there isn’t much to get excited about on the Titans’ offense, especially in the passing game.
It would be hard to envision Aaron Rodgers approving a trade to the Titans and showing up. They may have a more underwhelming set of pass catchers than the Packers currently do. With so many holes existing on the roster, Tennessee would be better off continuing to move veterans for draft capital to keep retooling and rebuilding the roster.
It would be interesting to see Aaron Rodgers sign off on a trade to the Tennessee Titans. The New York Jets have been adding pieces to appease Aaron Rodgers all off-season. It should be noted that even though Aaron Rodgers doesn’t have a no-trade clause, he could still threaten retirement if he is unhappy with the trade destination. With all of the new teams reaching out regarding the four-time MVP quarterback, it will be interesting to see if the Jets’ offer gets a little better in favor of the Green Bay Packers.
