The Green Bay Packers have just a few positions of need on the offensive side of the ball going into 2023. While we are still unsure who will be the starting quarterback in 2023, Green Bay’s management seems to be confident in Jordan Love or Aaron Rodgers. One of the other positions that currently is a question mark going into 2023 is tight end. Marcedes Lewis and Robert Tonyan’s future for the Green Bay Packers is uncertain. That could leave a major hole in the position. However, the Packers are projected to sign a star tight end in free agency that could solve all their problems at the position.
Green Bay Packers Projected To Sign TE Dalton Schultz

According to Kenneth Teape of NFL Analysis Network:
Unfortunately for the Packers, the free agent wide receiver class is lacking high-end talent. If they want to make a sizable upgrade there, a trade is the likelier route. DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals and Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals are two names to keep an eye on.
On the open market, the Green Bay Packers could be better off targeting a pass-catching tight end to bolster the offense. In that scenario, one player who would fit the bill is Dalton Schultz of the Dallas Cowboys.
After playing on the franchise tag in 2022, Schultz looks like he will be moving on from the Cowboys this offseason. Injuries limited him at times during the season, but he showed more than enough to land a multi-year deal as a real weapon in the passing game.
From 2020-2022 Dalton Schultz has accumulated 198 receptions on 282 targets, 2,000 yards, and 17 touchdowns. During that same span he has averaged 66 receptions, 667 yards, and nearly six touchdowns per season. That type of production would be huge for the Green Bay offense no matter who is the starting quarterback.
The Packers haven’t had a long-term solution for the tight end position in years. After Robert Tonyan’s record breaking 2020 season, many thought he could be it. However, after accumulating only 674 yards and four touchdowns over the last two seasons, his long-term future in Green Bay is questionable at best.
