The Green Bay Packers are in the midst of one of the most franchise-altering off-seasons of recent memory. It has been over three weeks since Aaron Rodgers declared he intends to play for the New York Jets in 2023. However, with seemingly no progress toward that trade actually happening, multiple other teams have reportedly entered the mix for the four-time MVP quarterback. That being said, it would be fairly surprising if the Green Bay Packers chose to trade him anywhere else. Today, Green Bay Packers President Mark Murphy was asked about the pending trade, this is what he had to say.
Mark Murphy Talks Aaron Rodgers Trade
After being asked if “the ball is in the New York Jets court” regarding the Aaron Rodgers trade, this is what he had to say:
Yeah, I can’t really get into that. I know Brian and Joe have been working on that. I do anticipate quiet a few questions [regarding the Aaron Rodgers trade], and I anticipate saying there’s no update. I remember a pretty similar situation about 15 years ago.
After being asked if Aaron Rodgers would be traded prior to the 2023 NFL Draft, Murphy states “You know that is something Brian [Gutekunst] is working on and I have been actively involved.

According to Craig Carton, the Packers-Jets trade would have been done two weeks ago if it were up to Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst. That’s when Packers President Mark Murphy allegedly intervened and “in-fighting” ensued.
Many signs are pointing to draft day being the day that Aaron Rodgers is actually traded. For nearly a month now fans and analysts have debated on who has more leverage in the trade talks. At the end of the day, the Green Bay Packers would love to get 2023 draft picks for Aaron Rodgers, however, it would not cripple them if they received 2024 draft picks instead. The Jets, on the other hand, want Aaron Rodgers in house as soon as possible. Getting acquainted with the coaching staff, play book, teammates, and more are all necessities for the Jets to be successful in 2023. None of that can start happening until the trade is finalized.
Green Bay Packers President Mark Murphy is leaving on the Packers annual tailgate tour across the state of Wisconsin today. They are expected to visit Eau Claire, Minocqua, Ashland, and Superior. Murphy is expecting many questions over the course of the tour regarding the Aaron Rodgers trade.

Mark Murphy needs to go, now. He was a terrible hire from the start and is much more concerned about his legacy than the teams record
