The Green Bay Packers have had an interesting offseason
The Green Bay Packers have had a quiet free agency but a loud offseason. The Packers are working to finalize a deal with the New York Jets to trade quarterback Aaron Rodgers. That will mean the Packers will build around Jordan Love this offseason. Because the Packers have limited cap space to work this offseason, they will focus on adding players via the draft rather than picking studs in free agency.
That might sound like a dud for an offseason to most Packers fans. Quarterback transitions are messy. But there’s hope for the future if Jordan Love can progress in his first season as the starter. Zoltán Buday with Pro Football Focus wrote about one positive takeaway for each NFL team. Buday wrote the Packers should be happy they have a conclusion to their quarterback dilemma:

The Aaron Rodgers saga is seemingly coming to an end after the four-time league MVP told Green Bay that he intends to continue his career as a New York Jet. Although this trade has not been finalized, as the compensation between the two teams is yet to be agreed upon, but the Packers at least know now which quarterback to build around going forward, as Jordan Love should be under center in Week 1 of the 2023 season.
The Packers team from 2022 had a lot of injuries. But even if they would have been mostly healthy, they appeared a few pieces away from competing for a Super Bowl. Towards the end of last season, it was apparent to many fans and general manager Brian Gutekunst that the Packers’ next best chance to win a Super Bowl was in the post-Rodgers era. It might be a painful 2023 season, but there should be excitement in the team’s youth movement.
