For years, the question as to who was the best player on the Green Bay Packers had an easy answer: Aaron Rodgers. Now Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the New York Jets and Jordan Love is under center in Green Bay. While everyone hopes that Love is the next great all-time quarterback for the Packers, we cannot give him that title until he proves it on the field. When PFF released their top three players on each NFL team, they appeared to have some trouble with the Packers. Their top three are, indeed, worthy; but are they really the best three players on the team?
Jaire Alexander, Aaron Jones, and Rashan Gary Are the Top 3 Players on the Green Bay Packers

PFF chose Jaire Alexander, Aaron Jones, and Rashan Gary as the best players on the team. In their explanation, they wrote:
“2022 wasn’t the strongest year for most Packers players, but the staple guys still played well. Jones posted a career-high 86.1 overall grade as one of the top backs in the league, recording a 5.3 yards-per-carry average and 31 explosive plays of 10 yards or more. Gary played in only nine games but still led the team in pass-rush grade (81.7) and pass-rush win percentage (20.9%). Alexander was once again the team’s best coverage player, securing an 82.1 coverage grade.”
PFF also noted that they considered David Bakhtiari and Kenny Clark for a top three spot.
Are Those 3 Players Really the Top 3 on the Green Bay Packers?
As mentioned, the three players listed are certainly worthy of being named the three best players on the team. After all, Aaron Jones is a dynamic weapon who is sure to put up bigger numbers without Rodgers calling the shots on offense. Alexander is arguably the best cornerback in the NFL, so his inclusion makes sense. The big question, though, is Gary, who only played nine games last season.
True, Gary was on his way to a Pro Bowl caliber year before he got hurt. However, if PFF wants to take Bakhtiari off of the list because he was limited due to recovering from a torn ACL, should they not do the same for Gary who may or may not be ready for Week One for the same reason?
Undoubtedly, when healthy, Gary is a top three player on the team. However, is it safe to say that he is right now before we see how he plays following his recovery? Perhaps his inclusion is an indicator of just how poor individual seasons were for Packers players last season.
Personally, I would have included Swiss Army knife offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins who has proven over and over again that he will succeed no matter where he plays.
