Green Bay Packers Selected To Land 24-Year-Old Super Star (Report)

The Green Bay Packers are headed into a pivotal off-season.  After exceeding expectations in 2023 by reaching the divisional round of the playoffs, the Packers have their sights set on something bigger in 2024.  Jordan Love and the Packers offense found their grove late in the season and it propelled them into the second round of the playoffs.

However, the defense left much to be desired at times.  One report has surfaced recently that could help with that.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report highlighted how this could happen:

Gutekunst hasn’t made a habit of chasing bit-name players in free agency, so we can expect the Packers to be more active in the second and third waves. Continuing to build depth in the defensive front seven should be a priority, as Green Bay’s run defense remains a weakness.

The Packers finished the regular season ranked 28th in rushing yards allowed and 23rd in yards per carry allowed.

Were the Packers to get aggressive, players like defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and linebacker Patrick Queen would become ideal free-agent targets. However, potential bargain free agents like defensive lineman Dorance Armstrong and linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. are far more realistic.

Safeties like Jeremy Chinn and Jordan Whitehead could land on Green Bay’s radar, depending on what happens with Savage and Owens. With Bakhtiari likely out, Green Bay may also seek tackle help.

What Would Queen Do For The Packers?

Patrick Queen, a 2020 first-round draft pick did not have his fifth-year option picked up by the Baltimore Ravens. In retrospect, that decision doesn’t look so good, since Queen recorded 133 total tackles and earned second-team All-Pro honors. It is likely that Queen will be outbid by the Ravens since Roquan Smith was already paid by the team last offseason.

It is projected that the former LSU linebacker will command a contract worth $18.5 million annually. In spite of this, since run defense was arguably their biggest weakness this season, the Packers may be willing to splurge on it.

Pairing Quay Walker and Patrick Queen would immediately become one of the best ILB duos in the NFL and significantly impact the Packers’ run defense overnight.
