The Green Bay Packers overcame a dreadful first half of football against the Indianapolis Colts to win 23-19. Now 1-1 on for the 2025 NFL Preseason, the Packers have just one more contest, next weekend against the Seattle Seahawks, before they break camp and begin the regular season.

But one player who is now in serious danger of not being a part of next week’s game, or any games for the foreseeable future, is safety Omar Brown, who became a fan favorite during the annual Family Night scrimmage earlier this month.

During the aforementioned Packers Family Night, Brown raised eyebrows of fans, analysts, and coaches by intercepting three passes during the scrimmage. He also knocked a few other passes away.

With Green Bay safety Xavier McKinney sidelined for the preseason with a calf injury, and since head coach Matt LaFleur opted not to play his starters (such as safety Evan Williams), Brown got the opportunity to play some meaningful snaps against Indianapolis.

During the game, he record a single tackle, but had to be carted off the field early. He suffered a chest injury and was taken to the hospital.

After the game, LaFleur told reporters: “Kind of a scary deal. He’ll be staying overnight. He’s got a chest contusion.”

It is not yet known when Brown will be able to return to practice.

Last season, Brown spent the majority of the year on Green Bay’s practice squad, though was elevated to the gameday roster twice.

He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Denver Broncos after the 2024 NFL Draft, but was waived when they trimmed their roster to 53 players. The Packers signed him three days later.
