The Green Bay Packers offensive line got dominated on Thursday night against the Detroit Lions in a 34-20 loss at home. Detroit’s defense had its way against them all night long. The Lions in the game recorded a total of five sacks and they also picked off two passes.
Green Bay’s offensive line already took a hit before the game on Thursday night when it was announced that David Bakhtiari will probably be sidelined for the remainder of the season. He is one of the best left tackle in the league and they are going to miss his presence big time for the rest of the season.
They could have used his services on Thursday night, but it may not have even mattered with how this game played out. Detroit has beaten them four consecutive times and it feels like they are going to be here for the long haul. The Packers offense line will need to be better or they are going to end in the loss columns more than the win columns.
Green Bay Packers Offensive Line Mauled by the Detroit Lions Defense Led by Aidan Hutchinson
On the Packers first defense series of the football game, they picked off Jared Goff and they then had the football into Lions territory. On Green Bay’s first drive on offense, Aidan Hutchinson recorded a sack on the drive and all Green Bay could settle for was a field goal. They didn’t move the ball on that drive and it kind of set the tone for the Lions defense.
Hutchinson finished the game with 1.5 sacks and he was all over the place for the Detroit Lions. Because of his play, it opened up other opportunities for other Detroit defensive players to contribute. John Cominsky, Alim McNeill, and Isaiah Buggs each recorded a sack in the game. Charles Harris had the other 0.5 sacks in this football game.
Jerry Jacobs was also a factor in this game for the Lions against the Green Bay Packers. He picked off Jordan Love twice.
Lions rookie Brian Branch recorded seven total tackles in the game, but he was carted off the field with an ankle injury and x-rays were negative. We will see how severe his injury is. Hopefully, it isn’t too serious.
The Green Bay Packers will face the Detroit Lions later again this season. Green Bay needs to be at the line of scrimmage, or the same results will help once again with Aidan Hutchinson as the tone-setter for them.
