The Green Bay Packers enter the 2023 season with a lot of hope. There is a slew of young, exciting players on the roster and the team is hopeful that Jordan Love is ready to take the reigns. In a weak NFC conference, the organization hopes the team can make a little noise in 2023. But what if they don’t? The Packers have also set themselves up for the long term, but one analyst states that this is the nightmare scenario for the 2023 season.
Green Bay Packers Nightmare Scenario For The 2023 Season
Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report gave the nightmare scenario in one sentence for each team. Here is what he had to say about the Packers.
“They’re wrong about Jordan Love but still too talented to land a primo draft spot for a shot at Williams or Maye.”
Obviously, it is a bad scenario if Love is bad but the worst-case scenario is if he isn’t bad enough. The 2024 quarterback class is very deep but if the Packers are more of a middle-of-the-road team, they likely will not have a shot at the top quarterback talent. A record of 5-12 or 6-11 is probably the worst-case scenario because it means the team was bad but not bad enough to land a top pick.

Silver Lining In That Scenario
Even in the nightmare scenario, I still think the Packers could make it work. The Packers will likely own the Jets’ first-round pick next year. The only way that Aaron Rodgers does not play 65% of the snaps is if he is injured. Even if the Jets are good next year, it is a second first-round pick. If they are bad but not bad enough for a top pick themselves, they could look to package the picks to move up. The Packers have what so many teams crave, flexibility. No matter what happens, they have a path to move forward.
This is going to be a fun season in my opinion. After last season had a dark cloud over it, I for one am excited to watch the young talent. Even if there are growing pains, there will also be jaw-dropping plays from young athletic players. All eyes are on Love. If he can succeed, it takes a lot of pressure off the front office. If not, the team will have some decisions to make a year from now.
