Last season, Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers surprised everyone by fielding the NFL’s youngest team and eliminating a higher-seeded Dallas Cowboys team. Just recently, though, their running back group received an encouraging ranking ahead of the 2024 campaign.
The Packers’ 2023 season marked a significant transition, as they bid farewell to legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers and welcomed Jordan Love as the new starter. Despite roster changes, including the departure of long-time kicker Mason Crosby, the Packers demonstrated resilience and adaptability.
After a challenging start with a 3-6 record, the team rallied in the second half, improving to 8-8 and clinching the final playoff berth in the NFC. In the Wild Card round, the Packers made history by becoming the first seven-seed to win a playoff game, defeating the two-seed Dallas Cowboys.
However, their postseason run came to an end in the Divisional round against the eventual NFC champion San Francisco 49ers, the fifth time in 11 years that the 49ers had ended the Packers’ playoff aspirations. The Packers’ ability to overcome adversity and remain competitive in the face of change showcased their commitment to maintaining their status as one of the NFL’s premier franchises.
Green Bay Packers’ Running Back Group Receives Encouraging Ranking Ahead of 2024 NFL Season
If the Packers hope to replicate their season, the team will count on their running backs to make things happen on the field, Fortunately, that groups received a favorable ranking, as seen in an article written by Trevor Sikkema for PFF.
“Josh Jacobs had a down year with the Raiders in 2023 after rushing for more than 1,600 yards and earning an elite 91.9 rushing grade in 2022. But there wasn’t much help around him in Las Vegas, and he is now in Green Bay with A.J. Dillon and rookie MarShawn Lloyd behind him. That bodes well for Jacobs to enjoy a bounce-back year,” Sikkema wrote.
Last season, the Packers finished with a record of nine wins and eight losses. They also ended their campaign with a 12th place offense and a defense ranked 10th out of 32 teams in the NFL.
With Green Bay entering year two of the Jordan Love era, the team will be counting on its running back group to contend next season. If they exceed expectations, the Packers will go further in the upcoming campaign.
