Quay Walker put on a show on Thanksgiving night against the Miami Dolphins, as a defensive catalyst in the Packers‘ convincing 30-17 victory that cements Green Bay’s status as a contender in the NFC.
However, this season hasn’t quite gone the way Walker would have hoped.
The 24-year-old linebacker has produced 89 tackles with 2.5 sacks, but admitted after Thursday night’s game that he holds himself to a far loftier standard.
“I think I just do too much thinking, to be honest with you. Instead of just going out there and just play,” Walker told reporters on Thursday night, opening up about his aim to become one of the top players at the position across the league.
Walker stonewalling Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa down near the goal-line in a critical juncture of Thursday’s win underscores what he believes it is going to take to become the player he hopes to become in coming weeks and the seasons ahead in his career.
“Anytime I have that mindset – see it, go – I can be a real, real productive player,” Walker explained. “I don’t want to give myself too much credit but that’s how I see it.”
