The Green Bay Packers suffered a 34-31 loss against the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying, especially on Josh Jacobs’ part.
The Green Bay Packers running back was the brightest spot on the team, notching 18 carries for 66 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The two-time Pro Bowler also became the third running back this season to go over 1,000 rushing yards alongside Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley.
Josh Jacobs only needed 13 rushing yards heading into this contest, and it took him three carries to breach the 1,000-yard threshold, his first as a member of the Green Bay Packers and first since 2022. The 26-year-old has four seasons with 1,000 rushing yards in his career – 1,150 in 2019, 1,065 in 2020, and a league-high 1,653 in 2022.
He also has reached his 10th total touchdown this season for the third time in his six-year NFL career (nine rushing, one receiving) by scoring Green Bay’s first touchdown of the match during a second-quarter drive.
Green Bay Packers fans react to Josh Jacobs’ historic performance
Green Bay Packers fans showered Josh Jacobs with praise on social media for his performance against the Detroit Lions, so much so that they said he is already better than Aaron Jones.
“Aaron Jones can flat-out ball, but Josh Jacobs has totally changed this run game! Smart by the raiders to go spend the money on Gardner Minshew instead of Jacobs!” wrote Ryan Clark on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Josh Jacobs >>> Aaron Jones and it’s not even close,” said a fan.
Another commenter chimed in, “I know Packers fans, myself included, were sad to see Aaron Jones go, but man, did we get ourselves an upgrade in Josh Jacobs.”
