The Green Bay Packers have far fewer questions and doubts surrounding their team than they did a year ago. Following the trade of Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, many fans and NFL analysts wondered if Jordan Love was going to end up being good enough to be worth the risk of trading a future Hall of Famer. And for the first half of the season, it looked like he was not going to be.
However, Love led the Packers to a 7-3 record over the last 10 games of the 2023 NFL season and helped them clinch a wild card berth in the postseason. He then led them to an upset victory on the road over the Dallas Cowboys.
Despite losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round, it was clear by the end of the Packers’ season that Love was indeed their quarterback of the future. He finished the 2023 regular season with a 64.2% completion percentage, 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 96.1 passer rating.
Now one of the only questions the Packers have going into this season is how much to pay him on his upcoming contract extension.
NFL Analysts Have Been Debating How Much the Green Bay Packers Will Pay Jordan Love

Prior to the 2023 NFL season, Love and the Packers agreed on a contract that bought out his fifth-year extension season. He is due to make about $11 million this year, which is well below his market value for a quarterback of his caliber.
A couple weeks ago, former NFL agent Joel Corry wrote an article for CBS Sports in which he estimated that Love’s contract extension would pay him $46-48 million annually. He came up with this figure by analyzing what the Packers did when Rodgers got his first contract extension in 2008 and what they paid the future Hall of Famer on his final contract in 2022.
Since the publishing of that article, though, the Detroit Lions gave Jared Goff a four-year contract extension that will pay him $53 million per season. This deal has many wondering if other quarterbacks that are up for extensions, such as Love, will actually make $50 million or more.
NFL Insider Believes Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Could Earn Joe Burrow-Level Money

A couple of days ago, NFL insider Ian Rapoport said that it is not a matter of when, not if, the Packers and Love agree to a contract extension. In other words, a deal will get done. The only two questions remaining are when and how much?
NFL Network‘s Mike Garafolo believes that the deal will be in Joe Burrow territory:
“He’s going to be in Joe Burrow territory. There’s no doubt about that. I continue to hear that. And the other thing you have to remember, you may say, ‘Oh, Joe Burrow has more of a resume.’
“Who cares? Like, right now is the time to hit for Jordan Love. He’s going to push to get the deal done based on all that he was afforded. He wasn’t the starter for the first couple years, so it’s like ‘This is all I have to show you, and it was really good.’ You saw the number there, second in the league in passing touchdowns. So he’s going to push for that number.
“And on the Packers’ side of things. Brian Gutekunst, when they drafted him, he got hit a little bit for that. They traded Aaron Rodgers away, he got hit for that. And Jordan Love sort of proved them right. So, he’s got incentive on his end to lock this guy up and show that he is the franchise quarterback.”
Burrow, by the way, is making $55 million per season and is the highest paid quarterback in the NFL. If Love’s new contract is in Burrow territory, it could be a record-setting deal. He certainly will become the highest-paid player in franchise history.
