The Green Bay Packers have done it again: they have found their third-consecutive franchise quarterback. While it is far too early to dub Jordan Love as the Packers’ third-straight Hall of Fame quarterback, it is apparent that Green Bay has another star at the position.
Of course, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers are the two Hall of Fame talents that preceded Love as the Packers starting quarterback. In his first season under center, Love had better numbers than either of them had in their first seasons as Green Bay’s starter:
Quarterback | Completion % | Yards | Touchdowns | Interceptions | Passer Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Jordan Love | 64.2% | 4,159 | 32 | 11 | 96.1 |
Aaron Rodgers | 63.6% | 4,038 | 28 | 13 | 93.8 |
Brett Favre | 64.1% | 3,227 | 18 | 13 | 85.3 |
With his performance last season, Love earned himself the right to a hefty contract extension, one that could even break NFL records.
How Much Will Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Make on His Next Contract Extension?

While there have been no leaks from either the Packers or Love regarding the amount of money or the number of years they are discussing, a look at other contracts given to NFL quarterbacks this offseason may help provide some insight into what fans can expect to see when Love does sign his new deal.
The Detroit Lions gave Jared Goff a four-year extension worth $212 million, or $53 million per year. At the time, this made Goff the second-highest paid quarterback in the NFL in terms of annual salary.
However, the Jacksonville Jaguars then gave Trevor Lawrence a four-year contract worth $220 million, or $55 million per year. This tied Lawrence with Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals for the highest annual salary in the NFL.
Now, if Lawrence is getting $55 million per season, one should expect Love to get more. After all, he had the better season in 2023:
Jordan Love | Trevor Lawrence | |
Completion % | 64.2% | 65.6% |
Passing Yards | 4,159 | 4,016 |
Touchdowns | 32 | 21 |
Interceptions | 11 | 14 |
Passer Rating | 96.1 | 88.5 |
The big question now, however, is when will Green Bay and Love come to an agreement. On Monday, the star quarterback gave a little hint.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love on Contract Extension: “News Coming Soon”

During a youth football camp that Love was hosting in Milwaukee, he was asked about where his contract negotiations stood with the Packers. The Green Bay personnel cut the interview short after that because reporters were told they could not ask about the extension talks.
But before he left, a smiling Love said, “News coming soon.”

Packers quarterbacks and rookies need to report for training camp today, and Love has stated that he will be there with or without a new contract.
Based on his facial expression and body language, however, it seems like he knows a huge payday is coming his way.
