During the offseason, Donovan Jennings was picked up by the Green Bay Packers after going undrafted. The thing is, the offensive tackle was also selected by the San Antonio Brahmas to play in the UFL. This has led to a very confusing situation for football fans to understand.
The Packers have made a unique move following the 2024 NFL Draft. They have offered Jennings, a substantial $110,000 in guaranteed money to join their roster as a rookie free agent. This amount exceeds the guaranteed money received by two of the Packers’ drafted players this year. Jennings now has options as the UFL recently conducted its rookie draft, allowing teams to select prospects regardless of their NFL status.

In the recent UFL draft, the Brahmas picked Donovan Jennings in the third round. While it is uncommon for a UFL team to draft an NFL player, most of the first-round picks in the 2024 UFL draft were already under contract with NFL clubs.
Jennings has shown promise during spring practices with the Packers, receiving significant snaps with the second-team offense. This has led many to believe that he has a genuine chance of making the Packers’ roster. Several notable names were also selected in the UFL draft, including players who were not selected in the most recent NFL Draft.
Will Donovan Jennings Play For the Green Bay Packers and or UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas?

At this point in time, it’s not yet known whether Jennings will suit up for the Jordan Love-led team or play for San Antonio in the UFL. It should be noted, though, that the offensive tackle has the chance to earn more if he chooses the former, as seen in an article written by Justis Mosqueda for Green Bay’s community on SB Nation.
“While full pads have yet to come on in Green Bay, Jennings received a decent amount of snaps with the second-team offense during spring practices, leading many to believe that he has a real chance at sticking on the Packers’ roster.
Even if he drops down to the practice squad, players typically tend to go that route over playing in a spring league. UFL players are paid a salary of $50,000 a year, compared to $216,000 for an NFL practice squad player, assuming both players hold that seat for an entire season,” Mosqueda wrote.
Jennings has dealt with injuries during his time playing college football. He has demonstrated impressive composure and agility in pass protection, aided by nimble footwork. While he has decent athleticism and lower body flexibility, his ability to withstand power rushers is below average. Jennings could provide versatility as a late-round backup, capable of playing multiple positions.

It remains to be seen where Jennings will end up once the new NFL season starts. In any case, he might lose a bigger paycheck if he doesn’t choose to play under head coach Matt LaFleur for Green Bay.
