The Green Bay Packers’ third round draft choices have been a specific point of scrutiny over the years. Brian Gutekunst has famously flopped in the third round over the years. Excluding 2023, the last five third round draft picks include Oren Burks (2018), Jace Sternberger (2019), Josiah Deguara (2020), Amari Rodgers (2021), and Sean Rhyan (2022).
For whatever reason it has been difficult for the team to find a long-term (and impactful) player in the third round. However, one third round draft pick may have lost his chance to play against the Packers this week.
Former Green Bay Packers Third Round Draft Pick Montravius Adams Questionable To Play In Week 10 For The Pittsburgh Steelers
According to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now:
Defensive lineman Montravius Adams will likely practice this week as he attempts to return from an injured right ankle, but Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that it’s too soon to decide on his availability for this Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
Adams suffered a right ankle injury early in the Steelers’ Week 9 win over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football, and he was originally listed as questionable to return before being downgraded to out. Tomlin said that he’ll practice this week and the team will monitor his status for Sunday.
Green Bay Packers drafted Adams in the third round, 93rd overall, in the 2017 NFL Draft. On July 5, 2017, he signed his rookie contract.
As a result of a stress fracture sustained during training camp, he underwent foot surgery in August and missed the entire preseason. On November 11, 2018, Adams tackled Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler for his first career sack.
Adams spent time with the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints before landing in Pittsburgh. Throughout his time in Green Bay he appeared in 45 games, starting three of them.
