The Green Bay Packers are 1-1 to start the 2024 NFL season. They are preparing to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 3 on the road. No matter what happens with the Packers for the rest of the season, they will be hosting the 2025 NFL Draft.
It is a long time away between now and then, but the NFL Draft is always on the back of people’s minds. The Green Bay Packers have been drafting well over the past few seasons.
Latest CBS Sports Mock Draft Has the Green Bay Packers Selecting Cornerback Benjamin Morrison From the Notre Dame Fighting Irish
In the latest CBS Sports Mock Draft done by Chris Trapasso, he has the Packers selecting cornerback Benjamin Morrison with the 22nd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. This is not a surprise that another NFL Mock Draft has the Green Bay Packers taking a cornerback in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
They should have taken a cornerback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but they decided to take offensive lineman Jordan Morgan from Arizona instead. Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports said:
“Morrison has the length and physical traits Packers GM Brian Gutekunst has gravitated toward at the cornerback spot during his time calling the shots in Green Bay.”
He has nine total tackles and one pass deflection this season. Benjamin Morrison is currently in his junior season with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Green Bay Packers will continue to heavily scout cornerbacks throughout the 2024 college football season.
Fifth-Year Option For Eric Stokes Was Not Picked Up
Before the start of the season, the Green Bay Packers did not pick up the fifth-year option on cornerback Eric Stokes. It is very possible that they won’t re-sign Stokes after the season is over. Green Bay is not very deep at the cornerback position and Jaire Alexander is not getting any younger either.
Eric Stokes has been injury-riddled in his NFL career and Alexander missed several games last season. At some point, the Green Bay Packers will need to draft cornerbacks in the early rounds of the NFL Draft. Benjamin Morrison would not be a bad place to begin.
