Green Bay Packers superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons put together a strong debut season with his new team in 2025, although it ended prematurely due to a torn ACL.

Just before the start of the 2025 season, the Packers were able to agree to terms on a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys to acquire Parsons. In exchange, Green Bay gave up star defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks. However, they were not the only team with interest.

Parsons, who is one of the best defensive players in the NFL, had a large market. Quite a few other teams were trying to land him in a trade with the Cowboys.

Keeping that in mind, Parsons has now shared some shocking details about his exit from Dallas.

During an appearance on his podcast, Parsons revealed that he was almost traded to the Philadelphia Eagles instead of Green Bay. He shared that the return for the Cowboys would have been Jalen Carter and draft picks.

“So, to be honest with you, bro, it was very close,” Parsons said. “It was very close. Eagles before the Jaelan Phillips, before all of them, it was me. And I was really about to come.”

He continued on, going into more detail about the situation that almost had him join the Eagles.

But there was one person I had to play with and if he was gone, I didn’t want to be there and that was Jalen Carter,” he added. “They wanted a D-tackle. And they wanted to trade me, plus some picks. I don’t really care about the picks, but I’m going to play next to JC, you feel me? Yeah. Sorry Cowboys fans, it really almost happened. I feel like the trajectory would’ve changed.”

Thankfully, the Packers ended up acquiring Parsons and the rest is history.

In his first season with Green Bay, Parsons ended up playing in 14 games. He racked up 41 total tackles to go along with 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass. After he went down with the torn ACL, the Packers’ defense completely fell apart, showing just how valuable he was for the team.

Hopefully, Parsons will be able to get back to full health. He isn’t expected to be ready for Week 1, but a realistic timeline could be around Week 4.
