A lot of fans are thrilled to finally have a number one wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love. Golden is going to be someone that Love will be able to rely on. Golden talked about the atmosphere on draft night. He told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic,
“I never felt nothing like it. That was the best feeling I ever had in my whole life.”
Golden will need to live up to the expectations of what Davante Adams, Greg Jennings, and Jordy Nelson did with the Packers. There were several teams who wanted to trade up to get Golden at number 23, but Green Bay decided to stay put and it was very smart by general manager Brian Gutekunst. Green Bay’s new wide receiver also said on Thursday night,
“Man, I knew once I shook his hand — something just told me they finna come get me. When I came on my visit up here and got around the coaching staff, it was remarkable.”
In 16 games with the Longhorns, he caught 58 passes for 987 yards receiving and nine touchdowns, along with averaging 17.0 yards per catch. Golden will have a great chance to turn heads in his first NFL season with the Packers.
