New Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden has already shown that he is eager to get started in the green and gold colors of the NFL’s most legendary franchise. The Texas Longhorn product is already envisioning success for himself, and had a bold statement when asked about the famous Lambeau Leap.

Green Bay Packers Select Wide Receiver Matthew Golden
The Green Bay Packers have broken the “curse” of not selecting wide receivers in the first round. At No. 23 overall, they snagged Matthew Golden, an explosive deep threat that some saw as one of the best pure prospects in the draft.
Golden is one of the fastest receivers in the class and an excellent downfield threat. He ran a ton of deep routes at Texas in 2024 and produced a lot of contested catches. While the Packers currently have a good crop of intermediate receivers, Golden will look to unlock space and stretch defenses vertically.

Golden has already made comment about how excited he is to play with Packers QB Jordan Love.
“I’m letting him know as soon as I see him, ‘Man, you got a reliable target. You can trust me.’”

Matthew Golden Excited for Plenty of Lambeau Leaps
As per usual, after being selected, Golden was sent through the ringer of media questions. One Lily Zhao of Fox 6 News Milwaukee asked the wide receiver about how many Lambeau Leaps he envisioned doing throughout his career, leading to this bold answer.
“I gotta get one a game, so I’m excited to do that.”

Fans will love his confident answer and hope he is correct.
If Golden envisions himself joining the fans in the stands after touchdowns this often, he will quickly vault into the Lambeau Leap all-time rankings and join Packers greats like Jordy Nelson and Donald Driver. Here are what the rankings currently look like:
1st – WR Jordy Nelson (27)
2nd – WR Donald Driver (23)
3rd – RB Aaron Jones (20)
T-4th – WR Randall Cobb, WR James Jones, WR Greg Jennings (17)

Golden has 9 touchdowns for Texas last year as the Longhorns made it to the College Football Playoff Semifinals in 2024-25. Last year, Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Brian Thomas Jr. led the league in receiving touchdowns as a rookie with 10. With a 17-game season, the Packers will either play 8 or 9 home games, meaning Golden has a lot of work to do to produce to his desired level.
Packers fans around the world will excitedly watch for Golden to prove himself right.
