The Green Bay Packers are officially done with the Aaron Rodgers era. The Packers and New York Jets finalized their trade just a few days before the start of the 2023 NFL Draft. That also means the Jordan Love era is fully underway in Green Bay. Both quarterbacks showed up for voluntary off-season workouts and both seem to be excited about their opportunities in 2023. In the midst of all the news, Matt LaFleur had something to say regarding the starting quarterback position in Green Bay.
Matt LaFleur Makes Announcement About Quarterback Jordan Love

During a press conference Matt LaFleur said:
“I think it’s been a cool process from the day we drafted him to see him now, just to see how he’s matured in every facet of life. I think you guys probably notice it even when you’re in the locker room,” LaFleur said. “So, I think he definitely understands that he’s the guy in charge, he’s going to be the guy in the huddle and he’s got to be an extension of us. And we’re excited for him.”
“We’ve got a lot of confidence in him,” the coach continued. “I think he showed it just in the limited action he did last year and just the ability to step in there and the moment was not too big for him. You could see that. He was super poised. And that, quite frankly, gave us the confidence we needed to see from him.”
Matt LaFleur is doubling down on what the Packers front office has been saying for a while now. The growth and confidence the front office have witnessed has been on full display. While the Green Bay Packers didn’t pick up his fifth-year option, they signed him to an extension that could earn him more than the fifth-year option would have.
