The Green Bay Packers will be taking a long look in the mirror this offseason as they, once again, saw their postseason end in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs. This time, they blew a three-score lead to the hated Chicago Bears, making it one of the more embarrassing postseason losses in recent memory. Indeed, it is not hard to see that there will be some overwhelming changes made on the roster, and perhaps on the coaching staff.
Over the last couple of days, many Packers fans have been calling on the team to move on from head coach Matt LaFleur. His future will be determined in the next day or so as he is scheduled to sit down with new team President and CEO Ed Policy.
Regardless of whether or not LaFleur keeps his job, the current Packers head coach does believe that one of his most important assistants, defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, will not return in 2026.
Matt LaFleur believes Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley will be an NFL head coach

Addressing the media on Sunday as the players cleaned out their lockers, LaFleur answered some tough questions about this loss and the outlook of the team going forward. He did not shy away from the fact that everything needs to be reevaluated, including the personnel he employs on his coaching staff.
And while fans would love to see more than a few of the coaches replaced, one that LaFleur feels will be leaving is Hafley, but not because of performance concerns.
Instead, LaFleur think Hafley is going to get an NFL head coaching job:
“I think Hafley’s gonna do a great job on the interview and I fully anticipate him getting one of these (open jobs). I would be so happy for him because he deserves it and he’s a great friend, he’s a great man, he’s a great coach. I’d hate to see him leave for us, but at the same time, that’s what this business is all about and he’s earned those opps.”
It was recently reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Hafley has interviews scheduled with the Las Vegas Raiders and Miami Dolphins for their head coaching vacancies. He now has five interviews scheduled for open NFL head coaching jobs.

Hafley had a couple of interviews last offseason for head coaching jobs, but obviously did not get any offers. The Miami position is certainly one to watch as Jon Eric-Sullivan, who worked for the Packers for over 20 years, was just hired as their general manager.
And, of course, Hafley has head coaching experience, at least on the college level. He was the head coach at Boston College before LaFleur hired him to be his defensive coordinator.
