Security concerns have been raised concerning the Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles game in Sao Paolo, Brazil this coming Friday. Playing in an unfamiliar territory and environment, the Packers are said to have been advised by the NFL to keep themselves inside the hotel unless there is a football-related activity.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has also already spoken about this particular concern with the team.
Via Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette:
When asked about any players’ concerns for their safety, LaFleur said: “We tell them what it is, and here’s our plan. But I have not heard our guys complain about it. It’s just the circumstance, and you’ve got to make the most of it.”
Will the Green Bay Packers overcome the Eagles in Brazil?
As for the game itself, there is plenty of excitement among the fans.
The Packers are looking to prove that last season was no fluke, and that they can be as successful – if not more. Playing in their first season past the Aaron Rodgers era, Jordan Love and the Packers won nine games and even reached the NFC Divisional Round after beating the Dallas Cowboys on the road via an upset.
The Eagles went 11-6 in 2023, but eight of their victories came before a Week 10 bye. While they clinched a playoff spot, the Eagles exited early, as they got eliminated by Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild-Card Round.
After dealing with Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, the Packers will be back in a much familiar territory, as they take on the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field in Week 2.
