The Green Bay Packers are coming off of a demoralizing and humiliating 31-27 loss at the hands of the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs on Saturday night. Even though they had a three-score lead heading into the fourth quarter, Green Bay’s offense stalled and the defense allowed 25 points in the final period, leading many fans to believe changes will be coming.
And these changes, in the opinion of many, should not be limited to players on the roster, but also to coaches, including head coach Matt LaFleur. However, based on the last report on Monday morning, it sounds like LaFleur is not going anywhere.
The Green Bay Packers still want to extend head coach Matt LaFleur

It was reported before and during the season that new Packers President and CEO Ed Policy does not really believe in letting general managers and head coaches go through “lame duck” years. That is, both LaFleur and Brian Gutekunst, who have just one year left on both of their contracts, will likely either be extended or fired prior to the 2026 NFL season.
And if he has it his way, LaFleur will be back on a contract extension:
As @RapSheet reported two days ago, the Packers are expected to try to work out a deal to keep Matt LaFleur in Green Bay.
Other teams with vacancies are watching closely; LaFleur would immediately be a top candidate if he becomes available. https://t.co/bgzhM9pRwV

As one can see in the report above, there is no deal done yet, but it is Green Bay’s wish that they keep LaFleur around for another few years as head coach. It is not yet known what the two sides need to work out, but it could be salary figures and/or some decisions the front office wants LaFleur to make in regards to his staff (i.e, firing some coaches and replacing them with better candidates).
The loss to Chicago, though, is still fresh on the minds of fans, many of whom were dismayed by this latest report:
The owners of Green Bay should really step in here and fire him. https://t.co/Xoez6bzUlC

People watched the JV 49ers yesterday beat the eagles and still say “Healthy parsons, Kraft, etc and we will be back” WE WERE UP 21-3 LMAO. Save me the “who’s better” propaganda.if sweeping changes are not on the position coach side of things we can fully expect the same https://t.co/rcWUNqfjtp

Yeah that makes complete sense. Keep a guy strictly so others can’t have him or because he would be a candidate for another team. Smart business you run @packers https://t.co/7RBMv5jeAQ

Don’t these 2 paragraphs conflict each other? https://t.co/KBfjj7tzH0

Again, nothing is official yet. If a deal is agreed upon, it likely will come later today as LaFleur is scheduled to meet with Policy.
