It was looking as though Anderson Carlson had the Green Bay Packers kicker job in the bag when he drilled a field goal from 55 yards away in the first quarter of Saturday’s preseason game at home against the Baltimore Ravens. But he also missed a 32-yard attempt in the fourth quarter. Will that affect how the Packers decide on the kicker battle between Carlson and veteran Greg Joseph?
Matt LaFleur defers to the Green Bay Packers front office when asked about the looming kicker decision
After the Packers beat the Ravens to the tune of a 30-7 score, LaFleur said that it’s on Green Bay’s front office to ultimately determine which direction the team should go when it comes to the kicker position.

“That’s not even a question for me,” Head Coach Matt LaFleur said, deferring to General Manager Brian Gutekunst, though LaFleur did not rule out scouring the waiver wire to see who’s out there. “We’ve got a really good sample size, and then we’ll see what happens just around the league.
“Certainly there were some good moments … and then there’s a poor moment there where we missed a chip shot. Lotta good, some we know we can be better at, and we’ll wait and see.”
Packers finish the 2024 NFL preseason with a win
After a lackluster performance in the 27-2 loss to the Denver Broncos on Aug. 18, the Packers rebounded to conclude their preseason on a positive note. Green Bay’s rushing attack led the Packers on offense in terms of yardage, as the team had 193 yards on the ground on 39 carries. Meanwhile, quarterbacks Michael Pratt and Sean Clifford each had a touchdown pass, with the former throwing a pick.
