Green Bay Packers: Offensive Genius Surfacing As Head Coach Replacement For Matt LaFleur (Report)

The Green Bay Packers haven’t had the same success over the last two seasons that they did over the first three of Matt LaFleur’s tenure.  LaFleur started his head coaching campaign with three straight 13 win seasons and two straight NFC Championship appearances.

His team cooled off in the two years since going 8-9 in 2022 and starting 3-5 in 2023.  The obvious changes over the last few seasons (Davante Adams trade, Aaron Rodgers trade, and numerous veteran free agents being let go) have certainly impacted the talent level on the team.  Giving LaFleur a few years to get this young roster firing on all cylinders would make sense given how well the offense performed over his first three years in Green Bay.  However, if the front office felt the need to make a change there is one name that would be compelling.

The Green Bay Packers Could Bring In Philadelphia Eagles Offensive Coordinator Brian Johnson

Ryan Heckman of Lombardiave.com highlighted how this could be beneficial for Green Bay:

Another one of the hotter candidates next offseason is going to be Brian Johnson, the current offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. Johnson began his time in Philadelphia as the team’s quarterbacks coach in 2021, where he began working with Jalen Hurts.

Johnson can be credited with helping develop Hurts and now, he’s the team’s offensive coordinator. The Eagles are currently third in yards per game, fourth in points scored and fifth in rushing. Johnson has done a marvelous job not only developing Hurts, but using the talent around him to build one of the league’s best offenses.

Now, the Packers have a ways to go before they can be compared to Hurts and company, but hiring Johnson would be a start. Do the Packers continue to roll with Jordan Love? Can Johnson turn Love into a top-end quarterback? That seems like a lot to answer right now, but at the very least, Johnson would bring a bright offensive mind to Green Bay, during a time where offense has been hard to come by.

A rapid rise through the ranks has been the hallmark of Brian Johnson’s career. After just two seasons as a quarterback coach at Utah University, he became the offensive coordinator. As a collegiate player, he helped develop NFL prospect Dak Prescott at Mississippi State.

Throughout his career, Johnson has been promoted or hired up everywhere he has gone.  This is why he should be considered for the job of head coach after only four years in the league. Developing quarterbacks is an important part of success in the NFL, and he has proven to be a key player in that area.

It would be a wise move to hire the 36-year-old for a team looking for a shot in the arm offensively and either has young quarterbacks or is expecting to acquire one in the near future. The Green Bay Packers fit that bill.

Hell no. They need to fire all the three stooges mark brian matt. Than go hire wolf or McKenzie and let them select the president. If not take both of them

Unless this is a two for one deal, in that a new defensive coordinator replaces dead-wood Barry, it won’t make much of a difference for the rest of the season.

Matt Lafleur is the major factor in the offensive breakdown for the Green Bay Packers. Jordan Love has not lived up to the expectations in the Aaron Rodgers quarterback replacement. The General manager should also be replaced for all the draft picks he lost for the Packers. What else needs to be said.
