The Green Bay Packers will open their campaign in the 2024 NFL season away from home. It will not even be in the United States, as Matt LaFleur and the Packers will be hedging south to Sao Paolo, Brazil for a Week 1 matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles this coming Friday.
The Packers will be journeying to Brazil this Wednesday, which is two days before the Eagles game. That is not usually how Green Bay does it in road games, as the Packers normally travel a day before such a contest. With all that, LaFleur had the Packers practicing from Sunday to Tuesday.
“You’re essentially going to stay on the same body clock, and I think that’s important part of it,” LaFleur said, referring to the two-hour difference with Sao Paolo, per Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
“Obviously leaning on our experts here in terms of, what are the best practices? What do you need to do from hydrating to eating meals to the recovery? These guys have researched and talked to a lot of people, and I feel really confident with our plan and what we’re going to do.
The Green Bay Packers can fly back home with a 1-0 record
The Packers are looking to kick things off the right way just like in 2023 when they opened their season with a 38-20 victory over the Chicago Bears. This time around, though, the Packers’ first assignment will be against a Super Bowl contender right away, with the Eagles priced at +1400 to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Green Bay will make its first true home game in 2024 in Week 2 on September 15 when the Packers play host to the Indianapolis Colts.
