The Green Bay Packers ushered in a new era this off-season. The departure of numerous veterans via trade or free agency has suddenly made the Packers one of the younger teams in the NFL. With Jordan Love at the helm, the Packers hope to secure their third long-tenured quarterback in a row. Another storyline going into the 2023 season will be how the Green Bay Packers defense performs. While they had a rough start to 2022, during the second half of the season the unit became a strength at times. One hole that may need to be addressed is the defensive line after Dean Lowry and Jarran Reed both left in free agency. As it turns out, the Packers were named in a trade that would land significant help at the position.
Green Bay Packers Land DT Glover Stewart In Proposed Trade
According to Kenneth Teape of NFL Analysis Network:
The 2023 offseason will be known as the start of a new era for the Green Bay Packers. It will be remembered as the offseason when Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, paving the way for Jordan Love to take over as the team’s starting quarterback going forward.
That has been where almost all of the attention has been this offseason, as the Rodgers trade talk dominated headlines. But, with that being completed, attention could turn to the rest of the roster. Heading into OTAs, there are certainly a few areas of concern.
That will open up opportunities for some of the young guys to step up into regular roles. On offense, the Packers are going to have the youngest set of wide receivers and tight ends in the NFL. Adding a veteran to those groups wouldn’t be the worst idea.
But, arguably the biggest need on the team is along the defensive line. That is why Glover Stewart of the Indianapolis Colts was named a trade target for the Packers before the 2023 season by Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report.
Green Bay doesn’t have a great salary cap situation, which led to them being very quiet in free agency. Only three players, long snapper Matt Orzech and safeties Jonathan Owens and Tarvarius Moore, were signed from other teams. Multiple key players, on both sides of the ball, departed this offseason.
What could a trade between the Packers and Colts look like? Green Bay could offer Indianapolis a fourth-round pick and see if they bite. Clearing nearly $10 million more off their salary cap could be appealing and adding another draft pick in a rebuild is never frowned upon.
For the Packers, they would be getting a much-needed upgrade at defensive tackle. Jarran Reed and Dean Lowry both left in free agency, leaving a huge void at the position. After being gashed for 5.0 yards per carry last season, Green Bay could use a player of Stewart’s caliber to put in the middle of their defensive line.
If the Green Bay Packers got serious help on the defensive line for a fourth-round pick, it would be a huge win. Kenny Clark has proven year after year that he is one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL, pairing him up with someone like Stewart would do wonders for the run defense in Green Bay.

Lol if you think Grover Stewart- the best run stopping DT in the league who is also an above average pass rusher- is only worth a 4th round pick
If you think the Colts would trade Grover Stewart for a 4th round pick you’re seriously delusional… That’s NOT happening Packers fans…
There is NO way the Colts would trade Stewart for only a 4th round pick. Sorry Packers fans, this trade will NOT happen.
