Green Bay Packers running back Marshawn Lloyd was not at practice on Tuesday because of a hamstring injury. This is not the first instance that a Packers player dealt with some hamstring injury issues. A season ago, Christian Watson and Aaron Jones were dealing with some hamstring issues.
This is not good news for Lloyd that he was out with a hamstring injury. He was also dealing with a hip injury issue earlier in training camp. Marshawn Lloyd was a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of USC. He did play in the preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, but it remains to be seen if he will play against the Denver Broncos this weekend.
For now, on the Green Bay Packers depth chart, Lloyd is third on the depth chart behind A.J. Dillon and Josh Jacobs. Emanuel Wilson is fighting to make the 53-man roster.
Green Bay Packers Running Back Marshawn Lloyd Being Injured May Keep AJ Dillon On the Roster
Dillon is currently on the bubble to make the 53-man roster this season. For now, he will be Jacobs’s backup but a lot can change before Week 1 of the 2024 season. If Marshawn Lloyd is not ready by Week 1 of the 2024 season, they will have to keep A.J. Dillon around and also keep Emanuel Wilson on the roster. A.J. Dillon re-signed with Green Bay on a one-year deal in the offseason.
Wilson made the team out of camp last season as an undrafted free agent. He was very impressive once again against the Cleveland Browns and Dillon was not as impressive. If Lloyd does not play on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, A.J. Dillon and Emanuel Wilson will get the bulk of the carries for Green Bay.
Lloyd only had eight rushing on one carry and only caught one pass for one yard receiving against Cleveland. It will be interesting to see if he will return to practice on Wednesday for Green Bay. If Marshawn Lloyd is out of practice again with his hamstring injury, then it will be time to be concerned. Other players on the roster are also hurt and the injury bug is nothing new to them.
