It took 86 years before Wisconsin got to host the National Football League draft again and Green Bay Packers definitely delivered the best program.

This year’s draft, which took place from April 24 to 26, is only the second time in league history that it took place in Milwaukee when the Packers’ stadium was still at the Wisconsin State Fair Park.

It pulled in around 600,000 spectators, which is the second most behind the 750,000 recorded by Detroit last year.

The event offered new features and programs to bring the fans closer to the league. Lambeau Field was even customized to give fans the best experience.

Even head coach Matt LaFleur made a declaration about Green Bay’s hosting.

“I can’t imagine any NFL draft being better than the one we hosted here. What a great experience,” he said.

“From where we’re located on the second floor in our football building, to look out and just see the number of people … was unbelievable.”

Green Bay Packers president wants to host draft again

Green Bay’s hosting received favorable grades from fans, pundits, even players. Many think they deserve to host it again.

Team president/CEO Mark Murphy feels the same. He wants Green Bay to be the venue for the most exciting NLF season event.

The problem is, it will be a long process.

“I do think Green Bay will host another draft, although it could be a while. Twenty cities have filed applications to host the draft,” he said during an appearance in front of reporters.

Next year’s draft will be hosted by Pittsburgh Steelers.

The host for the 2027 edition is yet to be identified although Washington and Denver are emerging as favorites to win the hosting rights.
