The 2024 NFL season hasn’t even gone into full swing yet, and the Green Bay Packers are already facing a serious dilemma that could effectively derail their Super Bowl hopes if handled poorly.
Jordan Love would have to spend time away from the team after hurting his knee during the team’s 29-34 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. While it’s fortunate that the injury wouldn’t sideline their QB1 for the entire season, the games he will miss could spell the difference between a shot at the Lombardi trophy and another disappointing postseason run.
The Packers have since decided that they wouldn’t look elsewhere to take over Love’s spot temporarily, which places a lot of expectation (and pressure) on Malik Willis.
The former Liberty standout didn’t have the best career with the Tennessee Titans during his two years with the team, explaining the doubts analysts and fans have over his performance in the team’s upcoming duel against the Indianapolis Colts.
However, one analyst made a wild suggestion: Willis is the best candidate for the Packers to replace Love with for Week 2.
Analyst believes Malik Willis’ familiarity with Colts makes him the perfect deputy for Jordan Love in the Green Bay Packers lineup
The Leap’s Peter Bukowski would agree that it’s not ideal for the Packers that Malik Willis would be stepping up in Love’s place for the team’s Week 2 duel. However, he put forward an argument that would make fans double-think:
Great point by @TicTacTitans: Malik Willis has gameplanned to play the Colts twice a year since he was drafted.
Gus Bradley does what Gus Bradley does. And he was JUST in practice vs. the Titans defense.

It’s true that Willis had a disappointing run in Tennessee. He only played 11 games for the Titans, throwing for 350 yards without a touchdown while conceding three picks.
However, playing for the Titans gives him a better understanding of how the Colts’ defense operates compared to other players in the league. If Willis wants to prove his worth to the NFL, this is the best opportunity to change the narratives surrounding him.
