The Green Bay Packers offense will have a plethora of weapons for quarterback Jordan Love to throw to this season. At wide receiver Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs will be the targets that Love will look forward to passing the football to.
However, they are not the only options on the field for Jordan Love. The tight-end position was also very pivotal to his growth a season ago.
Green Bay Packers Second-Year Tight End Luke Musgrave Predicted To Be Breakout Player On Offense
The Packers not only had one reliable tight end, but two reliable tight ends a season ago. Musgrave missed some time with a lacerated kidney and it sidelined him for several weeks. With Tucker Kraft being a third-round pick in 2023 from South Dakota State, he filled in very nicely.
Kraft caught 31 passes for 355 yards receiving and two touchdowns. He averaged 11.5 yards per reception and was targeted 40 times. Tucker Kraft also caught five passes for 24 yards and one touchdown in the postseason. He also was targeted nine times and averaged 4.8 yards per reception.
Pro Football Focus Bradley Locker thinks that Musgrave will be the breakout player this year for the Green Bay Packers. He predicted that offensive lineman Zach Tom was going to be the breakout player a season ago.
Locker said about Musgrave:
“It’s hard not to be extremely excited about the Packers’ boatload of young receiving options, and Musgrave is verifiably part of that. He played in just 11 games because of a lacerated kidney, but he was elite at the end of 2023: his 91.9 receiving grade between Week 18 and the divisional round led all tight ends. Musgrave is a player to buy stock in entering 2024.”
Luke Musgrave caught 34 passes for 352 yards receiving and one touchdown, along with averaging 10.4 yards per catch. He was targeted 46 times. In the postseason, Musgrave also caught six passes for 66 yards receiving and one touchdown. He averaged 11.0 yards per reception and was targeted seven times.
The one thing about Jordan Love compared to Aaron Rodgers is that Jordan Love does not mind throwing to his tight-end targets. If Musgrave did not get injured a season ago, he could have very well had over 500 yards receiving as a rookie.
Luke Musgrave was a second-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oregon State. Along with the wide receiver options this Green Bay Packers offense has, the tight end duo of Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave can not be slept on.
